Is There a Reason to Be Concerned?

Is this a new job market? Do you, the job seeker need to be concerned?

In a way, this is a question similar to the one being asked about Global Warming. We know the weather is different, but is it cyclical or does it represent a major change. Do we have to worry about the polar ice melting? In terms of the Job market, we are facing major changes. Our national economy is now a global one. It has moved during our 228 year history\7.6 generations from agricultural -> Industrial -> Service -> Information. Each economic transition has imposed massive changes at every level of our society and culture. Apparently, we are in the midst of such a shift. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, since 2001 approximately 2.9 million private sector jobs have been lost, many permanently. Forrester Research estimates that by 2015 an additional 3.3 million service jobs will disappear due to overseas outsourcing and technology replacement. There obviously is a cause for concern. Career Moves

We have seen estimates of job changes of up to eight times and as many as three career moves during the life of the average worker. It used to be that two was one career change too many. These estimates indicate a dramatic shift in the way workers view their work life. Several years ago Work at Home opportunities were considered scams. Now some are legitimate. We have become a nation of job searchers. It doesn't really matter whether it is due to the aforementioned global or national economic changes. What is important is that as job searchers we must adapt or lose out. Protection electromagnetic radiation
